Think on This …

Try to see self in the other’s place. And this will bring the basic spiritual forces that must be the prompting influence in the experience of each soul, if it would grow in grace, in knowledge, in understanding; not only of its relationship to God, its relationship to its fellow man, but its relationship in the home and in the social life.

By Edgar Cayce

THE NOTES WHICH ELVIS WROTE DURING HIS FINAL STAY IN LAS VEGAS IN DECEMBER, 1976

I feel sure that many of you have heard the song “The Letter” which was written and performed by Wayne Newton.  The lyrics to this song were inspired by and include Elvis’ own words …written in his hotel room at Las Vegas during his last stay there in December 1976.

If you have not really read nor listened to Elvis’ words, please do so now.  This will help you to understand how miserable Elvis was.   This man who was and is so dear to all of us was so very engulfed in misery and so very weary of being “Elvis Presley“.  He made that statement to so many people around him leading up to August 16, 1977.

Below are the words he wrote…just a note expressing his feelings.  He then crumpled the note and dropped it into the wastebasket where someone retrieved it and later sold it.  The buyer of the note was Wayne Newton.  He paid many thousands of dollars for the note.  Wayne wrote a song based on Elvis’ note which includes Elvis’ actual words recited by Wayne.

The above copy is from the book described below:

ELVIS WORD FOR WORD…What he said exactly how he said it….

This wonderful book was written by Jerry Osborne.  I recommend this book to every Elvis fan.  I have had it for a number of years and treasure it.  It is so refreshing to read words which Elvis himself spoke without anyone putting a “spin” on the things he said.

In This TNN interview, Wayne Newtons talks about a song he wrote called The Letter which is based on a letter Elvis wrote while in Vegas but trashed. A maid recovered it and it was auctioned some years back. Let Wayne tell you the rest of the story.

There are 3 more notes written by Elvis in the same manner during that same stay in Las Vegas in December, 1976. This was his last engagement there.  He did not like Las Vegas.  This is reflected in Larry Geller’s book “If I Can Dream“.  I also highly recommend Larry’s books.  I have read and loved every book written by Larry.

You will see these 3 displayed below.  They are also from the same book as the one above.  Again I do highly recommend this book to every Elvis fan.  Here again is the purchasing information for the book:

I ask that each person, who reads these sad heartfelt notes…notes from Elvis’ soul, try to put yourself in Elvis’ shoes.  If you feel the agony he was feeling and how miserable he was, then it should be very easy for anyone who loves Elvis to understand why he ultimately did choose to leave us on August 16, 1977.

One other thought in regard to this:  He had told some people that he did not expect to live…to go on…beyond the age of his Mama when she died and that he expected to go around the same date on which she died.  It will be worth your time to look into the age and date of his Mama’s death.

Also, Jesse said that he had originally planned to carry out the plan in 1976, but he backed out.  The numbers in 8-16-1977 would not come around again…that “perfect date“.

Below you can see the above 3 notes in Elvis’ own handwriting.  This article is from the magazine titled:   LFP Presents…ELVIS An American Legend which was published in October of 1995:

Headline of article about Elvis' notes written in Las Vegas in Dec. 1976

Elvis's notes written in Las Vegas Dec. 1976 Magazine article

I do apologize that it is almost impossible to read the text of the above article.

One important paragraph of this article details that during one particularly grueling span from March 17, 1976 thru December 31, 1976, – he played 126 shows in 80 different cities without any R & R…  Bless his sweet heart.  He was literally working himself to death.
