Elvis Presley’s ’68 Comeback Special to Hit Movie Theaters This Summer
Release marks concert film’s 50th anniversary
Elvis Presley’s legendary ’68 comeback special will get a special screening in movie theaters this summer to mark its 50th anniversary. NBC/Getty
Elvis Presley‘s legendary television special Elvis, better known as the “’68 Comeback Special,” will be screened in movie theaters this summer to mark the 50th anniversary of its airing. The screenings will take place on Presley’s death, August 16th, and again on August 20th.
The owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Authentic Brands Group–which also owns and manages branding for Marilyn Monroe and Shaquille O’Neal, among others–is arranging the screening with Fathom Events. They have yet to announce the screening times.
“Seeing Elvis onscreen is one of the most memorable and influential brand experiences and we look forward to bringing this special and future events to audiences around the world,” ABG’s senior vice president of entertainment, Marc Rosen, said in a statement.
“ABG is recognized as a global leader in the brand space and the company’s commitment to creating immersive brand experiences aligns perfectly with Fathom’s dedication to providing our audiences with exclusive, interactive and memorable cinema events,” Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. “We look forward to working together on many exciting projects for cinema audiences worldwide, beginning with this rare concert experience for Elvis fans.”
Presley’s comeback special came at a time when the King had been appearing in movies rather than recording music or performing live. It opened with footage of him dressed in a slick, black leather jumpsuit–curling his lip the way his fans remembered–and included a loose, “sit-down” set where he played his early hits with members from his backing band in the Fifties.
“Elvis was hardly ever nervous–but he was then,” drummer D.J. Fontana told Rolling Stone in a feature about the special last year. “We played a couple of songs, and it got loose after a while, and it turned out fine. He just had been out of the public eye for a long time.”

For years, people have been passing around the erroneous rumor that the anonymous figure seen in the Home Alone movie is Elvis. I have never believed that it is Elvis in the one scene of that movie. Years later, when I brought it up in a conversation with Jesse, he confirmed by belief that it is NOT him. He said that he did not even know what people were seeing and talking about. So, I sent him a copy of the movie so that he could see what all the hullabaloo is about.
Now, finally two friends of mine have shared information with me which may prove who the man in the Home Alone movie actually is. The man in this photo comparison below is Mr. Gary Grott. My good friend, Mike M. sent me the man’s name and posted his photo on my Facebook page.
Sadly, Mr. Grott passed away a few months ago.
Another of my Facebook friends, Elisabeth W. used a photo of Mr. Grott with his son to create the below comparison. It certainly does look like the man in the Home Alone movie scene. You may see it below.

Just want to share that Jesse phoned me this evening. We had a good brother and sister visit. He is OK except for still feeling fatigued and lethargic. He will be seeing his Dr. again. There isn’t any news to share this time. We talked mostly about things in our everyday lives. As always hearing from him was the highlight of my day. He is so sweet and kind. Originally airing on December 3, 1968, the “’68 Comeback Special” was Elvis Presley‘s first live television performance in seven years, which captured him playing with a full band in front of an intimate audience of diehard fans. As part of the special, Presley also pioneered the “Unplugged” performance style with an exclusive acoustic set. The soundtrack album went Top 10 following the special airing, shooting Presley back to the top of the singles charts months later with “In the Ghetto” and later in 1969, his first number one hit in seven years with “Suspicious Minds.”

I have just finished adding one more video to my YouTube channel once again proving that, just as Jesse told me, some of the Orion songs were sung by him.
In this video you will see some images and hear the song recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis BEFORE August, 1977. This fact was stated by Elvis himself to a Hollywood Journalist, James Bacon. You will read Mr. Bacon’s column stating this fact and that Elvis said he did this recording to “help Jerry Lee out“.
However, it was later stated that Jimmy Ellis overdubbed Jerry Lee’s earlier recording. This lie was perpetuated by Sun International Corp. when they released this same song three different times.
The original release was in 1978 featuring the black and white record sleeve which I have displayed in this video with record on black vinyl and on 45 RPM. Also, the original black vinyl was released by SUN RECORDS WITH THE ORIGINAL MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE LABEL.
Then it was again released by Sun International on gold vinyl, again in 1978.
Then it was released again on the DUETS Jerry Lee Lewis and Friends album once again in 1978. Notice that it just said “…and Friends” once again. With NO mention of the name ORION.
The next interesting step was when it was advertised for sale by Sun International on the DUETS Jerry Lee Lewis and Friends album as part of the ORION package.
So we have proof that Elvis himself said he recorded this song; later Jimmy Ellis claimed that he overdubbed this song; then Sun selling it as being ORION. What a string of misinformation to be put out about just this one song.
Please do bear in mind that I have proven on one of my previous videos regarding the song “What’d I Say” that Jimmy Ellis was lying when he said that he overdubbed Jerry Lee’s earlier song. As I proved, at the very end in the unedited version of that song, one can clearly hear Jerry Lee say “Man, you’re with it tonight, ELVIS”.
There is probably no end to the lies which were told regarding the involvement of Elvis himself in the ORION recordings.
I have included scans of 4 pages from the book IS ELVIS ALIVE by Gail Brewer-Giorgio in which you will read her experience when Sun began the ORION story. You will see Mr. James Bacon column stating that Elvis told him that he recorded Save the Last Dance For Me with Jerry Lee. You will also see the advertisement of this song included on the Duets album in the ORION package.
I hope everyone will take the time to read this description and to pause the video and read the text material which I have included.

There is one interesting quote of Jerry Lee which I keep forgetting to include. This is something of which I do not have a published copy, so I will accept if some do not believe it. But, I read this many, many years ago in an interview with Jerry Lee. Jerry Lee remarked “Elvis was smart; he knew when to get out.“

My heart is very sad to know that D. J. is gone. He was a loyal and true friend to Elvis. I always remember, from many years ago, during one of our visits to the grave-site at Graceland, we saw a beautiful large floral arrangement from D. J. which had an inscription on the ribbon which said something like “King of the whole world”. That was so sweet and touching to me and told me how much D. J. loved Elvis. God rest his sweet soul.
As always, my heart hurts for Jesse every time he loses someone precious from his past life.

A new Elvis compilation, Where No One Stands Alone, will highlight the rock legend’s love of gospel music and feature contributions from Lisa Marie Presley, Darlene Love and more. The record arrives August 10th via RCA/Legacy.
The 14-track album will combine classic Elvis vocal performances with newly-recorded instrumentation, as well as new backing vocals from singers Presley performed with on stage and in the studio. Lisa Marie Presley will sing a reimagined duet with her father on the album’s title track, “Where No One Stands Alone,”
“It was a very powerful and moving experience to sing with my father,” Lisa Marie wrote in her notes for the album. “The lyrics speak to me and touch my soul. I’m certain that the lyrics spoke to my father in much the same way.”
Along with Lisa Marie Presley and Love, Where No One Stands Alone will also feature vocals from Cissy Houston – who began singing with Elvis in 1969 as a member of the Inspirations – Terry Blackwood, Armond Morales and Jim Murray. The members of Elvis’ longtime backup group the Stamps – Donnie Sumner, Bill Baize, Ed Hill and Larry Strickland – also contributed to the record.
Where No One Stands Alone is available to pre-order. The record will be released digitally as well as on CD and vinyl. On August 11th, Lisa Marie Presley will join producers Joel Weinshanker and Andy Childs for a special “Where No One Stands Alone” event at Graceland Soundstage.

(2) Joel Gilbert with Hwy.61 Entertainment has forced me to remove my videos which had the songs from the “ELVIS FOUND ALIVE” CD from my YouTube channel and from my website. Thus the music player is gone as well as several of my entire pages. I will try to edit the pages and get them back up without the songs.
Also, as a result of his complaint, I chose to close my entire YouTube channel which I had for over 9 years.
I am very sorry about all of this.

I have been able to access my web site again and have started working to revamp the page which contained some of the “ELVIS FOUND ALIVE” CD songs. I plan to recreate my YouTube channel on a new account.

Well, I have been trying since Saturday to get back on my web site to do some work and post some articles. However, I have not been able to get onto the site until about an hour ago and I have been working on some repair work since. There is evidently a problem with compatibility with the server on which my web site operates and our slower AT&T U-verse service. The connection times out before getting to my site. This is causing me a lot of concern. I think the huge size of my site is a large part of the problem.
Please understand that if I am not posting for more than a day or two, something is wrong that I cannot access my site to do any work. I always worry that somebody will start a new rumor that I have died. There is already a rumor that I died and my friends are running the web site now. LOL With all my recent stress from Joe Gilbert’s demands and not being able to get onto my site, I wish those friends WOULD take over for me. Ha, ha!!!
I have revamped one page which had some of the songs from the ELVIS FOUND ALIVE CD in order to remove all of the songs as demanded by Joel Gilbert with Hwy. 61 Entertainment. The page HEAR ELVIS/JESSE’S CURRENT VOICE AS IT SOUNDS TODAY is now back in place for viewing.
I have created a brand new YouTube channel and uploaded some of my videos which were lost when I closed my original channel. I plan to continue uploading videos to reconstruct my prior channel as nearly as I can. I would appreciate it if my visitors would please visit my new channel and subscribe to help me get started growing again. I lost so much with closing my original old channel.

I have posted all of the details of the Joel Gilbert event on my Facebook pages as it all unfolded. I won’t rehash it all again on here. I have met his demands and am moving on. It was a very disturbing event for me. But, I am fine now. His statements have not shaken my faith one bit in the fact that Elvis/Jesse did record the songs on the CD ELVIS FOUND ALIVE. Jesse told me himself that he recorded those songs. He told me some of the details of the recording session and how excited the musicians were to be working with him. His voice on the CD is absolutely unmistakable. I really don’t understand Gilbert’s motive for trying to convince me that Jesse did not record the songs and furthermore that Jesse is not Elvis. I KNOW better and his time in Emailing me those statements was wasted. I took him seriously about his copyright to the songs. But, that was the only thing I took seriously from his two Emails.
I am very sorry if the Gilbert crisis caused anyone to have second thoughts about the CD being Elvis/Jesse’s voice or that Jesse is Elvis.
Let not your hearts be troubled, the truth does not change and this web site is the truth from Elvis, who IS Jesse, himself.
Again, if I am not posting for any length of time, it will be because I cannot access my web site.

I am still unable to access my web site through my computer and AT&T. I am again on here for just enough time to post this quick message by using Tom’s cell phone as a hot spot. I spoke with my administrator Mark yesterday and he did run a process which he hoped would help…but, it did not. The problem is that my web site has just grown to be too large and cannot be handled by my AT&T speed and the server on which my site operates. I know not what can be done about this. So, if I am missing in action, please don’t let the evil-doers pass around their lies and rumors that I have died, etc. LOL I will be back as soon as a solution can be found.
I do want to share with everyone that Jesse did phone me last night on the same day that he received my letter about the Gilbert crisis. Jesse and I have discussed the situation. Jesse was not pleased at all about Gilbert’s action against me. Jesse told me that he would do anything to help me. But I told Jesse that I did not want this to stress him in any way and that I will be alright. I will NOT ask Jesse to do anything to help with this situation. As far as I am concerned the Gilbert situation is over and done. Gilbert is a liar and I won’t waste any more of my time or emotions on him.
Jesse is still feeling so much better. He is planning on going out boating with some of his staff. This will be so much fun and good for him.
I am in the process of populating my new YouTube channel with my videos (all except the 4 which had the 3 songs on them). My new YouTube channel is under my full name of LINDA HOOD SIGMON and one may find it on YouTube by searching for that title. So far, I have 16 videos. I would appreciate my visitors going on my new channel and subscribing and liking one of my videos to help me get re-established. Of course, I will never get back to the number of views and subscribers which I had from my 9 years on my prior channel.

I want to share this video because of two things.
First, Elvis is singing the song “Fever”. Two times in my 26 year friendship with Elvis, who IS Jesse, has asked me what my favorite song of his is. I said “whichever one I am listening to. But there is one song that I don’t like…” He asked me both times which song is that. I responded both times “Fever…I don’t like that song.” Both times, he thought about it a little bit and said “I never did like singing that song.” So, it is cute to me that he didn’t really put his heart into singing this song during this performance and just cut up and sort of halfheartedly sang it.
Second, I ask that everyone listen to Elvis at minute 3:25 when he talks about wearing a bullet-proof vest on stage in case someone wants to shoot him. This does validate that he did take the death threats seriously. Another good reason to begin thinking of leaving his life as Elvis.

I have been working diligently to create a second web site to act as a continuation of this site.
I chose this action because I can seldom access this web site to post things because of our slower AT&T Internet connection and the monstrous size of my web site. My site just takes too long to load and the connection times out.
I have pretty much completed the construction of the new continuation site and posted my first article on there today.
I invite everyone to come see the new site and visit often to see any new articles which I post. This site will consist primarily only of the CURRENT NEWS AND EVENTS PAGES for each coming month. The first month on there is, of course, July.
There will be NO login on the new site. Just go directly to view the material.
