The following is an update to this original page – this book is now available for sale again. This followup article is copied from my Current News and Events page:

Ron Collamore, E-mailed me earlier this week to share an offer he received from the Richard Nixon Foundation. The offer is for the sale of a newly released edition of the book titled “The Day Elvis Met Nixon“. This is a wonderful book which I loved.
This is the first time that I have heard of this book being for sale since many, many years ago when it was originally published. It is being released now on the anniversary of Elvis’s 76th (January 8) and President Nixon’s 98th (January 9) birthdays.
The statement below is
“It remains to be seen, however, whether the author of ……will be resourceful enough to be able to arrange for Elvis to appear at a book signing.“
Elvis’ visit with President Nixon on December 21, 1970 is very well known and loved among Elvis’ fans. So much has been published in the media….much of it distorted.
Bud Krogh was the White House aide who wrote the book which you will see in the images below. It was he who prepared the agenda and accompanied Elvis during his White House visit. He was there and witnessed the meeting in its entirety. In his book, he shares what the meeting between the President and the King was really all about. The photos in this book are of extraordinary quality.
Of the most interest, though, is the letter which President Nixon addressed to “The Fans Of The King” written on April 14, 1994…only eight days before President Nixon passed away.
The letter is written in a most respectful manner toward Elvis. As you will see in the copy of the letter below, President Nixon says how impressed he was with Elvis’ sincerity about the threats to the young people of America.
The last sentence in the letter is the reason that I have decided to post this page about the White House meeting. Please read the letter in its entirety paying special attention to the closing sentence.
This was in 1994 (not during the 1988 frenzy), 6 years after Gail Brewer-Giorgio’s bestseller and subsequent media attention to the question “Is Elvis Alive?”.
Below you will see the letter followed by the cover of the book, etc. I do very highly recommend this book, but do not know if it can still be purchased. I will insert the ordering information, but I doubt that the brochure information is still applicable today.
