I have posted this on my site before; and it is included on my page devoted to the topic of Jesse’s photo. This video is located on my YouTube channel as well. A conversation earlier this week brought this video back into my mind and I feel that it does bear repeating. I am so very sorry that, off the top of my head, I cannot recall the name of the person who did this analysis for me to use on my site. Elvis Presley’s gold-leaf grand piano is expected to go for as much as $700,000, when it goes under the hammer November 7th, at a rock n’ roll themed auction in Beverley Hills, California.

Presley’s grand piano was played by the rock icon inside a music room at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.
While the piano’s initial finish was walnut, it was later decorated with a 24K gold-leaf finish by Presley’s wife, Priscilla as a first wedding anniversary present, Julien’s Auctions revealed in a press release. It was first bought by Presley in 1955 for his mother.
The current estimate for the piano is expected to fetch between $500,000 to $700,000, and will be sold alongside a matching bench.

Texas honky tonk features ‘Clovis’ Presley?: This Day in Texas History

Move over, ACL Music Festival. How about a show featuring Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley for just $1.50?
Imagine it: It’s 1955 and you’re in the small town of Cherry Spring, Texas, a village, really, where only nine people lived just two decades before. The one thing Cherry Spring boasts is its eponymous dance hall, converted from a closed-down saloon, post office, and dry goods store just a few years ago.
For some reason, the honky tonk has become big news in this part of Texas, about 100 miles due west of Austin. And today, October 9, 1955, Johnny Cash and the Louisiana Hayride are coming into town. With them, they’re bringing a young singer with the last name Presley, first name … Clovis?
That’s right. For a week in October 1955, the traveling music show the Hayride featured Presley and Cash, who joined “Queen of Rockabilly” Wanda Jackson and Porter Wagoner, then a fledgling star who would later use his TV show to introduce the world to Dolly Parton (thanks, Porter!).
The foursome hit Houston, too, along with College Station, Paris, Greenville, San Marcos and Austin.
But thanks to a typo on the venue listing in Cherry Spring, honky tonkers who came that Oct. 9 to see the show thought they were seeing an up and coming star named “Clovis Presley.”
Presley, then just 20, would have his first breakout hit just a year later. Tickets cost $1.50.
“The dance hall booked to house the concert couldn’t contain the masses that appeared,” Stanley Oberst and Lori Torrance wrote in their book “Elvis In Texas.” “Kids hung in windows and stood outside to hear the show, screaming and shaking the historical rafters.”
Cherry Springs Dance Hall “might not be quite the oldest, but darn close to it, and certainly the most historical” honky tonk in Texas, according to honkytonktx.com. The website notes Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Nat King Cole also played there, and Ernest Tubb, one of the early pioneers of country music known as the “Texas Troubadour” wrote his famous song “Our Baby’s Book” after losing his son in an automobile accident while en route to the dance hall.
“Located on the old Pinta Trail, the Hall was originally opened as a stop for cattle drives with old adobe bunk houses in the rear. Herman Lehmann, adopted son of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, ran the Hall for several years “’til he drank too much beer, got too fat,” the site adds.
Cherry Springs Dance Hall is now 126 years old and is still around, but it reportedly sits vacant. It closed first in the 1980s and again just about 10 years ago. Several travelers who have hit the town in recent years reported a closed barn-like building with a faded sign remains.
But once, not too long ago, it echoed with the sounds of Cash’s bass-baritone and rattled with the sway of “Clovis” Presley’s gyrating hips.
“The girls grew frenzied at such a show that their boyfriends became alarmed…and jealous,” Oberst and Torrance said. “One delightful child carved his initials into Elvis’ shiny pink Cadillac with his pocketknife to make sure the musician knew how he felt about his girlfriend’s abandonment.”

Austin Pets Alive! promotes the safety of humans and of our animals.
Neville was taken into Austin Pets Alive!’s rescue program a few months ago. Neville is a young, friendly dog who has never shown any signs of aggression. On September 22, Neville was playing with other dogs in a play yard when a family entered the yard to visit the dogs. The parents were advised by a staff member not to put their small son on the ground, because the dogs were playing energetically and a toddler could easily be accidentally knocked over. However, the child was placed on the ground and allowed to grab Neville, who unfortunately bit the child.
It is a very unfortunate situation for everyone, as we would never want a child to be harmed. However, we believe this was entirely preventable had our staff’s instructions and common sense been followed.
The family pleaded to the court system to have the dog killed, and Municipal Court Judge Clervi issued an order that Neville be killed, despite the evidence we presented.
“We don’t believe this is a dangerous dog,” said Mike Kaviani, APA!’s Dog Behavior Team manager. ”He did not seek out the child to bite, he was simply reacting to the child who cornered him. We haven’t been given any options at all other than killing the dog or we would be taking them. We are saddened and outraged we were not given an opportunity to find a better outcome for Neville.”
“Dogs can’t speak to us and tell us they don’t like something we are doing,” said Kaviani “They have limited ways to communicate and it’s our job to understand that.”
Austin Pets Alive! has created this petition in hopes of allowing Neville to be saved and placed in a home outside of Travis county.
